Arran is an ancient volcanic island with stunning views in every direction. From beautiful coastal panoramas to immense mountain ranges, the island has a fairytale feel that never fails to amaze travellers.
With a deep cultural history dating back to the Gaels and the Vikings, there is so much to discover on Arran. From standing stones erected in the Iron Age to clan castles built in the sixth century, you will never be lost for something to do or places to visit.
The Isle of Arran is not only one of the most beautiful Scottish islands, but also one of the most accessible islands from the central belt. The ferry port of Ardrossan in Ayrshire is only a 45-minute drive from Glasgow, and the ferry crossing to Brodick takes only 55 minutes.
Arran has something for everyone whether you are an adventure seeker, a curious traveller, a food lover, a sight seer, or an advocate of nature. Often referred to as ‘Scotland in miniature’, the entire island can be driven around in a little less than 2 hours and offers a little of everything:
breath-taking scenery; beautiful sandy beaches; rugged coastlines; rolling countryside; green forests; jagged mountain peaks; waterfalls; crystal clear rivers; trails; breweries; castles; distilleries; festivals; spas; superb local produce; and an abundance of wildlife including Scotland’s Big Five.
Choose to be as adventurous as you like, or simply do nothing other than eat and drink your way around the island!
Lamlash is situated on the east coast of the island between Brodick and Whiting Bay and is a very peaceful village with a lovely community spirit. There are beautiful coastal and woodland walks, superb dining, shopping, and sporting options (golf, tennis, bowling, putting, water sports), and of course Lamlash beach and bay where seals are daily visitors, not to mention the occasional dolphin.
Arran Shores is situated on the shorefront of Lamlash looking straight across the bay to the Holy Isle, an ancient religious site and a nature reserve that is accessible by ferry from Lamlash pier.
